Tintin was a part of the inspiration for Nathan Drake. So was Indiana Jones and John McClane. Btw this was an awesome movie. Anyone who says otherwise should never be allowed to watch real movies again.

This movie has been a magical experience for me. The digital work is amazing. If I believed in re-incarnation this movie brought a feeling; no a memory of that era. It's absolutely by far my favorite CGI created movie. Spielberg's touch, along with Peter Jackson's perspective it makes this movie... Great!

I have been a fan of the Tintin comic books for years, and Speilburg's rendition is a great tribute to the classic. The storyline wasn't the film's strongest point, a bit simple and lackluster, but every deficit in that regard was redeemed by the astounding production value of this film. As a 3D artist, I was able to appriciate the unparalleled skill that went into making this film. The almost photorealistic modeling, combined with motion capture, made this the best animated film I have ever seen. Speilburg's amazing storytelling is another aspect that makes this a film definately worth watching.

Love it!!! It's an awesome movie, doesn't get boring at all. But I think older kids should watch this, it should be rated PG-13 instead because it has this man who has really bad drinking problems, most people are smoking, intense action/violence scenes, and stealing. I saw this movie when I was about almost 11 years old, so you should probably watch it with your 'rents. ;) P.S. Did I mention it was an awesome movie?

This is definately one of the best movies of all time! Not only does it have beautiful animation, wonderful plotlines, and perfect characterizations, but it also shows the true awesomeness of Herge's most beloved creation. No, it does not follow the plot of the books precisely, but all changes are done in the true spirit of Tintin. And, if you look closely you will notice all sorts of cool references and characters from the original stories. i admit it, I am thoroughly obsessed with Tintin, I have read all of the books hundreds of times, have watched the movie over and over, and I hope and pray that Spielberg will make another Tintin movie as soon as possible. Long live Tintin!

This was fun movie to watch and full of laughs. I don't often laugh out loud but there was a couple of moments that really had me going. This was a pure adventure film with some great witty like moments. It is a gorgeous looking CGI film with great animation as expected with Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson behind it. I highly recommend this movie to everyone of all ages.

Idiotic, Soulless and nothing like Herge's Tintin. Not for fans of the original comic series.

This movie is just slapstick gags, ridiculous script, moronic story line, and special effects. It is not fun to watch.
Clearly Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg do not understand why "Tintin" is such a great comic series.
They have taken something brilliant and turned it into the idiotic trash that this movie is.
There is no real plot - they have grabbed bits and pieces of Tintin story lines from the entire comic series and spliced them together to create this "Frankensteins monster" of a mess.
None of the characters have any depth - The beauty of Herge's characters is entirely lost. Herge created real characters.
This feels like it was mashed together by a bunch of studio execs, who were lucky enough to get the movie rights for it, so they could capitalize on the loyalty of Tintin fans without doing any real work.
This movie lacks the wit, intelligence and humor of the comic.
The plot in this movie is largely meaningless. Its only purpose seems to be to provide a way for them to make another less than mediocre sequel.
The story line is one tangled mess. The direction is terrible. This feels like a high-budget gimmick. Even the ending is stupid - Its as if they painted themselves into a corner and could find no other way to end the movie, than have some kind of meaningless action sequence.
No Tintin comic has every had such a meaningless, stupid ending.
It feels like there was too much character, wit and culture in the original Tintin series for the director, producer and screenwriters to comprehend, so they decided to make something different. Clearly the writers did not think their storyline through.
The original characters developed over something like 30 comics, each with a deep detailed storyline with a start, middle, and end. This movie fails, because they are trying to take bits and pieces from too many stories and mash them together. The pieces don't fit. There are too many holes and pieces that do not fit well together. They have tried to hide this with special effects and ridiculous action sequences. Perhaps they could have succeeded if they tried to tell just one good story, instead of mashing too many together.
This movie lacks depth. Its as if writers of this movie tried drinking from a fire hose, drank more than they can handle.
This movie is nothing like Herge's world. The only thing good about the movie is the artwork and special effects. While the original succeeded because of great story, characters, humor, suspense and some action, this movie fails. Even if I wasn't a Tintin fan, I would still hate this movie, because even just as a movie by itself, it is nothing but special effects and ridiculous action sequences, without any decent storyline or real characters. This movie is like watching a blur.

The animation in the movie is really good! Im actually pretty impressed. They stuck to the story well enough, though sometimes it became a bit confusing. The only problem is, with all the work going to the animation, the script is weak.
Overall the movie deserves a four star. Very good animation and an okay script. Worth watching, if you watch the movie, you should read the books too.

Seeing as whom this films comes from I was expecting the adventure of a cartoon lifetime! But no I did not receive it. The animation is as close to real life as I've ever seen, top notch. The characters are kind of fun, but it falls through with the villain and the whole reason to get this toy ship. It's very interesting at first and I like the town they set up at the beginning, but the middle and end is what is lacking. For Spielberg and Jackson this was a insult.

I've noticed the same kind of comments that continue to be written as to why The Adventures of TinTin is "not that great of a movie." Well, for starters, it's a children's/family movie. This is not an intense movie that is completely unpredictable and fantastically plotted. It's funny, lighthearted, comical, and you cannot help but to adore the characters. Unless you are a heartless critic who is ruthless at reviewing films, you will clearly not understand the "magical" side of this film. Only someone who can find joy in the simplicity of a child's imagination will enjoy this remake of the original cartoon. I, for one, was delighted watching this film. Especially since it brought back to me the lightheartedness and comical humor of the original cartoon along with the suspense. I hope others can learn to enjoy The Adventures of TinTin as much as I have.

Before seeing "The Adventures of Tintin" on the big screen, I knew little to nothing about the main character himself. I did know that he was the main protagonist in a world-famous Belgian comic series by Hergé, but that was about it. Still, I ended up walking into the theatre with pretty high expectations (since this film was, after all, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson). Did it prove to be the epic animated globe-trotting adventure it presented itself as from the trailer? Well, yes. In fact it was one of the most visually stunning and action-packed movies of the year. The brilliant motion-capture animation was incredibly realistic, the epic score was highly intense in every scene and the pacing of the story was swift enough to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time. But that's not to say there weren't a few issues with the flick that kept me from enjoying it completely. First off, I was just a little bit disappointed that Tintin (Jamie Bell) didn't have that much of a well-developed backstory or any major reasons for us to feel emotionally attached to his plight. Of course we want him to inevitably succeed in the end, but we're never given any firm ground as to why we should do so. To me, he felt slightly more like a one-dimensional character rather than a fully-realized film protagonist like Frodo Baggins or Indiana Jones. As for the villain of the movie, Ivan Ivanovich Sakharine (Daniel Craig), we barely know anything about him other than the roots of his ancestry and his motive to prevent our heroes from uncovering the secrets of the Unicorn, but I guess I'm just nitpicking too much. Perhaps the only character I really enjoyed watching was Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis). Along with his witty sense of humor and hilariously erratic behavior, I appreciated how he was given a solid enough backstory for me to remember him as a truly intriguing and well-thought out character. All in all, even with all its small issues, I thoroughly enjoyed watching "Tintin" as a whole. With its beautifully animated international backdrops, well-designed characters and dizzying, fast-paced storyline, the film fully immersed me in its sensational adventure and kept my heart racing at every turn. That being said, I definitely recommend giving this movie a rent if you wanna watch a fun-filled mystery-caper with plenty of thrills. It may not be the most accomplished animated feature to come out in the past year, but it's still one heck of a great ride from beginning to end!

good hollywood blockbuster... but don't expect too much if your are a fan of the adventures of tintin comic books or even of the animated series ..its was sort reduce to a lot of throw in your face action movie and completely misses the unique sensitivity, humor and mood that the author produced throughout the series. Not forgetting that Herge questioned society and its evolution in a provocative way throughout his drawings and storyboards. we will probably never see the day of tintin goes to Congo or Tintin in America because of what said previously..

"The Adventures of Tintin" is the spectacular result of a collaboration of two great filmakers: Steven Speilberg and Peter Jackson. It has another fine performance by Andy Serkis as our hero's companion Captian Haddock, and some very good comic relief by SImon Pegg and Nick Frost.
As for the motion capture itself, it is simply PERFECT! It has none of the flaws that other motion capture films suffer from. The characters all look realistic while still retaining the style from the original comics the movie is based on. The action sequences are also well choreographed. And it's all done by Weta Digital, which also made the effects for "Lord of the Rings" and "Avatar".
This film is totally worth purchasing!

All my life I have read the Tintin comic books, so when I heard that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson were teaming up to make a movie about the Belgian hero, I was ecstatic. I mean, who better than Spielberg, right? Anyway, having lived in Belgium myself, I was invited to the world premiere in Brussels, and I was nit disappointed with the film. My only critisisim was the change in the plot line, since it did not follow the exact comic book one that Hergé wrote. But who cares?! It was amazing. Defenitly watch it in HD by the way...it will blow your mind. I promise.

Awsome

Had to see the movie once to end up poking my nose into the orignals. Because I am an American and never heard of the beautiful Tintin, the movie was my one way ticket into the Tintin universe. I want to thank Speilberg and Jackson for my collection of items and favourite T-Shirt...! Thank You so much for letting me discover this amazing comic! I love this movie to the smallest bits and everthing about it. I am 16 and proud to be a crazy Tintin fanatic!

This movie was done in such a way, using motion capture, that made the characters come to life. The blend between the actors really acting it out, and turning it into an animation style film, brings the much loved cartoon/comic "Tintin" to a whole new level. Obviously with Steven Spielburg and Peter Jackson heading up this film, you know the quality is going to be amazing. Especially because they both are fans of Tintin as well! This is a great movie that can stand alone and still be good. At the same time, it will accentuate the cartoon/comic.

ADVENTURE TIME!

After nearly four years away from the director's chair, Steven Spielberg has finally come home! "The Adventure of Tintin" is an action-packed, family-friendly adventure that never slows down.
The story follows young reporter Tintin (Jamie Bell), who discovers a model ship that contains a clue to a centuries-old secret. Tinitn and his loyal dog Snowy are caught in the middle when the evil Sakharine (Daniel Craig) captures Tintin and takes him overseas to help him find an ancient treasure. While held prisoner, Tintin befriends Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis), who may have a greater connection to Sakharine and the treasure than he realizes. In a battle of skill and wits; Tintin, Haddock and Snowy attempt to find the treasure before Sakharine does.
The motion capture is the best quality animation I've seen. It does a wonderful job capturing the beauty of the action sequences; especially towards the end where one scene is just a single continual shot. You'll be exhausted by the time that scene is over. There are many visual moments which really show that Spielberg has tons of creativity in him.
If I did have one major nitpick with this film, it would be the writing and most of the humor. I didn't find any of it to be terrible, but I was expecting a little bit better; given that they had Edgar Wright ("Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz") and Joe Corinsh ("Attack The Block") writing the screenplay. But, after reading some of the original "Tintin" comics; I have to say, the writing and the humor in the film matched up well to the comics, so I can't really fault the movie for adapting it's original source material.
So as a whole, I had a most joyous time watching this. Yes, the writing wasn't the best, and the humor was a little weak, but that souldn't prevent you from seeing this. The whole look of the film is great, the action sequences are some of the best I've seen all year, and it really brought out the child in me. Thumbs Up!
