Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high‐profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens. When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman, Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin, Carmine Falcone, and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

I didn’t expect to love this movie as much as I did. I never know what to expect when a new Batman comes out. My favorite Batman before was Christian Bale. Robert Pattinson did an amazing job here. Love the cast, Director and scene shots to. Great movie, fast paced and can’t wait for the next movie of what sounds like they are doing as a trilogy

I don’t normally write reviews but I felt like I needed to for this film. This was a slog to get through. Hard to see, the writing and character development was subpar and don’t go in looking for action packed scenes. Batman walks everywhere with little to no attempt at subterfuge. The Nolan trilogy is still the the best Batman collection in my opinion. I’m still waiting for them to be topped.

So dark. Good luck watching this movie in the daytime. Very woke. Slow moving so the 2 1/2 hours felt like 4. I thought the Christian Bale trilogy was spectacular so I was very excited about a new take. But this in my opinion was a major flop. Not sure what the critics will give it. It’s usually all about the political optics and ideology to those guys. I thought Pattinson did well overall though.

Being that I rated this two stars, Apple probably won’t even accept my review. They’ve added censorship and review brigading just as hard as Rotten Tomatoes.
The Good: Paul Dano plays a great Riddler (up until the end), Colin Farrell is an interesting Penguin (his makeup is fantastic), and there are some great action sequences.
The Bad: This is not Gotham City; it is closer to Chicago or Times Square (with lots and lots of rain). Batman is overly brooding, slow in response, and not the World’s Greatest Detective that we seemed to be promised. Catwoman is straight-up feminist and semi-racist while pressing a tinge of woke, identity politics. She is also possibly lesbian. Her character was frustratingly morose and bleak. Gordon and Alfred were absolute wastes of screen time and served no utility to the plot. Which brings me to the plot: I don’t want to give much away for those who haven’t seen the movie, but the script clearly veered off course multiple times in an attempt to make us care more for characters that were unlikable (including Batman).
The Ugly: There is so much blasphemy in this movie that is showed how truly disconnected Hollywood and DC are from their heroes. We have permanently lost who fights for the vulnerable and stands strong in righteousness. The language was unbearable for a Batman movie and the characters were self-serving, not self-sacrificing. Matt Reeves does not care about Batman lore. He just wanted to capitalize on a legacy character. Being that he co-wrote the script I can absolutely put the blame on him.
Final Notes: Films have become a weapon against the public. They are used to divide audiences through the installment of extreme ideologies. Just look at reviews. People spend more time criticizing others comments (and wishing pain upon that person) than the movies themselves. I truly believe that is Hollywood’s plan. And for those of us who cherish a particular medium, if we end up disappointed in a rendition then we are labeled “toxic”. The audience needs to fight for its heroes the same way they have fought for us. Otherwise we’ll be left with nothing more than villains waxing poetic about morals to other villains.

I had not expected to like it, I’ll be honest.
But WoW. Really surprised how really great the movie is and how Pattinson portrayed Batman/Bruce Wayne. Not really a Pattinson fan in the past, but it feels like he really got how the grittiness of Batman comics. The dark grit that drives him.
Fights are great, the highway seen Awesome.
Really the best Batman and Batman movie.
Pattinson best, Keaton 2nd best Batmans.
Great work.

It's ok.
..until you find out Catwoman is a racist. Then realize that all the competent authority figures in the movie are black, and every criminal/crooked politician is white.
This movie is racist, hate-filled garbage.
Just another product of the hateful left.

This was a well put together Batman movie. Great acting with excellent cinematography. Batman is dark and this the lighting was perfect. Do I feel it’s the best one? Meh…it’s ok. I felt like there was much use of Batman’s arsenal, and not much communication with his butler was lacking, and when there was it felt rushed considering Andy Serkis played the part! I’m definitely buying this movie, and hopefully they keep it going since they teased another major villain!

I originally had very low expectations when I found out Robert Pattinson would star as Batman. Boy was I wrong. Really good movie from start to finish. The movie is a little too long to be honest but it’s worth the watch. $30 is too much to pay for a movie if you ask me, however, if you’re gonna spend that kind of money might as well spend it on a good movie such as this one. Everyone has their own opinion though so purchase at your own risk.

Probably the most accurate portrayal of Gotham and its seedy underbelly ever put to screen. Batman Begins came close but this nails it. And probably the best villain since Dark Knight.
People saying it’s “not real Batman” and they liked Afleck better have only ever watched Batman movies and never actually read the comics.
And to the whiny entitled babies leaving one star because of the price- nobody is forcing you to buy it. It’s the same cost we’ve seen for early release for years now. Quit crying and go watch it on HBO Max.

Robert Pattinson is too suburban to play this character… he tried hard… but doesn’t make the cut… failed miserably. that voice is a joke, and just not believable. he poses well… for a shaver commercial, but not even the bat suit made him look the part. … plainly, the acting is simply hard to watch. After WB set the bar with Joker, which was an trully incredible performance by Joaquin Phoenix, this Batman version is not even close. ——- the movie effects, editing and audio is great… but production failed because of (1) non-intellectual, dumbed down story, and (2) Robert Pattinson ruined the movie. ——- whatever exec ok’d Pattinson should be looking for a new line of work. ***** hopefully now that WB has joined with the big D, creative writing and productions can become more focused on quality writers and directors again.

Cast 5 ⭐️! Story 3⭐️ lighting-10 ⭐️!
It took 2 hrs before you could really see anything at all even with no lights on except the tv! Glad I waited for it to be free on HBO max. It took tell last 20 minutes to see the sun rise on the city…. With such a good cast you think they could of done better!!! Just shows why marvel kicks DC every time! Endgame you could see everything clearly unlike this version of Batman which is said with a great cast in my opinion.

The story is awfully slow and the design of the costumes are like they went to a Halloween store. The only tech mildly interesting was the contacts that recorded. So much didn’t fit. Bruce rides around on a bike without costume and changes like he’s Superman, no Wayne manor, he lives in a tower, bat cave is in what looks like an abandon subway like it’s teenage mutant ninja turtles, backstory of his parents is crazy, and costumes look terrible. Camera angles during the car chase are very hard to follow and disorienting. Probably the point, but I didn’t like it. Is like Batman’s world is getting more and more decrepit. It’s sad that the only good Batman outside of comics is the 90’s cartoon.

It’s easy to start by comparing this iteration to its predecessors and this film doesn’t disappoint. It lost something for me with its social justice undertones. I hate the idea of getting one’s politics at the box office. The entire idea of Batman / Bruce Wayne is boiled down to his wealth. His wealth made his family a target, and it gave him the means to become Batman. Robert Pattinson played the much darker take of the caped Crusader better than I’d anticipated. A few things missed for me. The official musical score when compared to Zimmer let me down. Zimmer’s score added so much to the tone and tempo of scenes. I feel like this movie would’ve been a 5 star review had it been R rated and they embraced that last 15% of the darkness. To its credit though, this is the only DC movie in a long time that’s made me excited about it and movies to follow. Let’s just hope DC doesn’t get in its own way.

Honestly, the movie itself is amazingly done, the theme feels dark just like Batman should be. Unfortunately for some reason I just didn’t like it as much like the previous trilogy, maybe I am biased by the Gotham series too and it’s characters. Still, maybe some people will like it better.

What?? this movie is upsetting, completely changed the Wayne family into a corrupt family. Robert pattinson was a terrible batman and a Terrible TERRIBLE Bruce Wayne. As Bruce Wayne, he literally played your average “Emo” 14 year old kid. And same as his Batman Ego. The batman was brutal in a childish immoral way. Going back to Christian Bale, makes me appreciate him more.

Believe me when I say this, The Batman is by far the best DC Batman film we have ever had. The gritty, darkened, neo-noir film is an extravagant experience all the way through. The story and soundtrack fit really well together, not only that, but the cast of characters was perfect for the style and tone this movie brought to the big screen. Pattinson, Kravitz, Dano, and Wright all did an amazing job with the roles they were given. Especially Paul Dano’s Riddler and Rob Pattinson’s Batman, they are both fear inducing and full of character. The Batman, in my opinion, should be ranked a modern masterpiece among the greatest.

Honestly, this movie is about on par with The Dark Knight Rises. Wasn't great. Not the worst in the franchise, but certainly not worth the praise it's getting. Also doesn't deserve the comparisons this movie gets to Se7en, which is a bonafide classic. Paul Dano's Riddler is more Jigsaw than John Doe. In fact, the whole production had a very strong "Saw" vibe, in that it all felt very cheap and grungy. Like a mall goth's idea of Gotham.

I thought this was both a fresh and familiar take on Batman. It was great to see his detective side in action more prominently, and it was also cool to see a more detailed look at his early days. The action was spectacularly choreographed and the Batmobile scene was amazing. I enjoyed the characters for the most part. One thing I didn’t care for with characterization was the non-comic book characters. I feel like the commissioner could’ve easily been Loeb. The district attorney could’ve been Vernon Fields. And some of the cops could’ve been characters from the comics. No big deal though. I enjoyed Falcone and Colin Farrell’s Penguin. I’d love to see more of him in the future. The storyline and plot was fairly similar to something I’ve seen in other media, but it was cool to see on the big screen. Overall, Rob Pattinson is tied with Michael Keaton as my second favorite Batman, Zoe Kravitz is the third best Catwoman behind Hathaway and Pfeiffer, and this is my fifth favorite Batman film altogether. This storyline has a lot of potential if we continue to bring in more familiar characters, specifically ones that need redeemed in film (Mr. Freeze!!!). However, with the Discovery merger and overhaul, maybe we’ll get to see this Batman join the Justice League and perhaps become our definitive Batman equal only to Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man for Marvel. Pattinson might’ve just found the role he was born to play. I’m very hopeful for his future as Batman, the future of the DC films, and I hope everyone else is too. My gut tells me that us hardcore fans are about to be really happy.

It’s not my favorite movie in the franchise, but The Batman is by far the only movie that is first and foremost a Batman movie. It’s refreshing to get a superhero movie nowadays that’s standalone and (relatively) self-contained and grounded. Loved the detective and horror aspects, as well as how personal the story was. Matt Reeves delivers again, this time finally making Batman the classic noir adaptation that suits him. This was the first time I felt that a film in the series truly captured the essence of comics Batman. 9/10

Simply incredible. Robert Pattinson is incredible, the story is intense and satisfying, the script and direction by Matt Reeves is, at times, astonishing and as a whole it almost reaches the near untouchable brilliance of Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Just an all around incredible movie, made by artists who obviously deeply love the character of Batman and his storied mythos. Special mentions to Colin Farrell who nearly steals the movie in a completely unrecognizable turn as The Penguin, Paul Dano who is eerie, anarchic and terrifying as The Riddler and in maybe my favorite scene in the film - Barry Keoghan as The Joker. I personally hope we see more of him in the films to come. Matt Reeves has made a nearly perfect Batman movie and it is as rewatchable as movies get.
IMHO, this is the film to beat for the title of Best of 2022…

Reeves has no idea what has made Batman endure or why readers and viewers have suspended disbelief for decades. This is a derivative movie made up from parts of more original Batman movies. Elements from the Dark Knight trilogy, Batman Forever, and the Burton/Keaton films are “borrowed” to make up this inferior patchwork. The rest of the movie is made up of plot holes, the least inconspicuous Bruce Wayne since the 1966 series, a destructive chase that is literally there just to have a car chase, and a lot of illogical choices made by central characters and side characters alike. Simply regurgitating plot points and character motivations and then making everything darker (including literally, as Gotham either forgot to pay its electricity bill or it is woefully short on replacement lightbulbs) a good Batman film does not make. Considering the astronomical hype, the massive budget and the extra year of production it was reasonable to have expected a much better finished product.

Best Batman movie to date.

This movie has something that recently movies are lacking, emotions. They did an amazing job conveying Batman’s thoughts across to us. The movie is dramatic and suspenseful, you’ll be very entertained. Some people are complaining on the length of the movie but you get so invested in the story you lose track of time. The movie gets some amazing shots that both look amazing but also shows the true nature of Batman with still doing something new. The villains are not just black and white but show true performance. The movie has 10/10 music featuring Nirvana (song: Something in the way). I (and many others) have no complaints about this movie. If you’re a casual Batman fan or a hardcore one you’ll find something you love. The only movie comparable is The Dark Knight, I would say they tie in all departments but one. The Batman has way better shots then The Dark Knight and looks WAY better. We have waited for DC to release this movie and I truly think all that time waited was worth it. The environment is exponentially great. Unlike Spider-Man No Way Home, The Batman is NOT filmed in front of a green screen but instead places IRL that give it a feel. This movie is just amazing, 100/10.
