After her Grammy win I decided to see what all the fuss was about. Listened & still don’t see why she won. This is the wierd, art house music that plays in small college venues with lots of pot & alcohol where its disjointedness & dissonance is ok for an altered state but if you aren’t high out if your mind the songs are strange & generally unpleasant to sit & listen to or turn on to work out or clean house to.

Four Grammys for this nonsense? So a 17 year old mumbles bad poems over GarageBand beats created by her brother (an already successful songwriter) and we’re all going to pretend that Eilish’s entire career isn’t just a cash grab blessed on a phony wunderkind prodigy story?

None of these “songs” will be remembered in 30 years. No one will sing them. No one will say, in 2050, that Billie Eilish was a seminal influence on their own music. This is overrated garbage.

Alright, so the last time I wrote this review I made some comments on bad musicianship and ripping off PvZ. I will only talk about one this time around. Althought they are both major offenses.

So basically, this mentally disturbed chick, Billy Eyelash, has decided to become a big star, y'know, singing to the masses, talking to a generation. Problem is, we don't understand the "genious" because it was a badly conveyed message. Picture it like this: a less vain Ms. Eyelash forms a band with a dumb name like [REDACTED] or something like that. They play some stuff, with actual inatruments. That is good musicianship. However what we got was some woman whispering into the mic with strange sounds going off in the background. Not good musicianship, and definitely something she won't be able to pull off live.

Alright, I've said my peace. Back to my corner of the internet with the other Blue Öyster Cult fans.

Honestly, the people who hate the song and the crazy lyrics just don’t understand. I’ll admit some of Billie fans are depressed but being depressed is something nobody can control and that doesn’t mean Billie Eilish is bad all together. She is a 17 year old with a very interesting mind, it’s fun to listen to her and try to guess what all her songs are about. She is very inspiring and is my idol. I’ve been a fan of Billie for a long, LONG time. I’m only 12 and I’ve heard all of her songs except these. To see these hate comments makes me think “ wow, I bet no one would say this to her in real life.” What’s so good about social media? I honestly don’t get it. We always need a ton of likes and followers. But who the f cares! Where does that get you in life? No where.

We all know Billie is amazing. She’s been praised by countless famous people for having a different style. Im pretty sure this album will be amazing. Everyone giving it one star are most likely trolls or a bunch of old people. They haven’t even heard the album and they are saying it’s bad. Billie never fails to amaze people and without a doubt she will amaze all those trolls. At least she’s addressing problems many teens fails to address. She is teenagers a voice and if millennials or baby boomers can’t handle that then they should just go listen to some old music. David has compared her to Nirvana, yeah David Grohl. He said that the same thing is happening to her like it did to Nirvana in 1991. In her songs Billie is talking about problems many people have like depression or sleep paralysis. You know at least she isn’t talking about how much money she has or about all her ex boyfriends. She doesn’t wear revealing clothes like almost every teenager. She might actually be teaching them to be less revealing, that they don’t need to show off their body to be “liked.” There’s a lot you people don’t know about her or don’t understand about her. Give her a chance.

This album has clearly shown us beauty and emotion throughout the whole album. Any one of these songs can be listened to for hours straight without getting boring. Billie really puts her heart and soul into every song; her music is for everyone.

This isn’t alternative

Eilish wanted each song on the album to sound different; this is where the problem lies. Spending way too much time and effort caused the singer to achieve the exact opposite. Whispered vocals, overly minimalistic production, and short lyric couplets are found in each of the album’s first three singles. Billie Eilish’s mingling with horror pop sure is interesting, but jumping back between ruling towns and predicting one’s early death seems too calculated. Perhaps it’s her way of being funny, but unfortunately she’s not letting anyone in on the joke.

I don’t understand the hype for this girl. This music seriously sounds so dead and un-meaningful. Like there’s no purpose to each song that this girl releases. Maybe she should go to college and try to learn a few things and travel maybe. Or experience life a bit more so that she can actually write something that’s worth listening to. Don’t get me wrong, her voice is beautiful. But these songs are not powerful or transcendent to the art of music.

Some of my friends told me to listen to her songs, and they honestly kinda creep me out. bury a friend doesn’t even sound like a real song, and I’m only giving it 2 stars for you should see me in a crown because it’s the only one I can actually listen to all the way through.
