Simply inspiring

A groundbreaking view on the basic questions that emerge throughout a life of research and discovery. Sometimes awesome, sometimes troubling, but always inspiringly interesting!

Breath of fresh air

Echoing what others have said: Waking Up is a breath of fresh air amidst the stink of insincerity that pervades much of the airwaves these days. Thank you Sam for your bravery, your honesty and your intellect. I do hope that many more people come around to understanding why you say the things you say, rather than continuing to live in their bubbles.

We need more Sam Harrises!

I cannot describe how important, refreshing, and wonderful it is to have an American with a voice who is able to express and articulate the concerns of many people who are not usually heard. We get shut down and shamed everytime we engage in particular discussions. We need more champions like Sam, Ayaan, Dawkins, and Hitchens who will be able to give people at the 'centre' of the political spectrum a voice. Thanks Sam! We need you more than ever.

This podcast is oatmeal for your brain

If you like intelligent, differentiated thought, you'll love this podcast. Listening is a pure joy to the brain. The topics are oftentimes controversial, which is a good thing. You will almost certainly end each podcast with a feeling of seeing through an issue more clearly.

Thoughtful Podcast

I'm always excited to see that there is a new episode of Waking Up because I know that it will be full of interesting conversations, thought experiments, and carefully articulated reasoning. It's like an antidote to the strident tone displayed by too many in our culture today. Sam also seems like a good guy to get a beer with.
