Daily read / please tone it down

A daily read for me. I still seem some ads while a paid subscriber or am pushed over and over again some NYT initiative (like a journalist looking to be followed). I would hope that the successful paid subscription model would allow you to tone down on the excess of notifications, ads and calls to action. That’s why I subscribe- to get away from that economy of attention.

Instead of a payed subscriptions, can’t you only have advertisements? The cost for a subscription is very high. Advertisements aren't great either but at least more people could afford it to read your news articles. Everything else is great!

Too Many Ads and Poor Today’s Paper

I am a paid subscriber and when I read the articles it seems that I am scrolling more past ads for other Times products, such as newsletters, than for the actual content. Additionally, the “Today’s Paper” section is poorly laid out considering that half of the articles only have photos and no headlines. I was hoping this section would be more like what the Washington Post has, which shows the actually layout of the day’s paper. Despite the flaws with the app, I really appreciate the content.

The good thing about this newspaper is that it's the only one that provides 'some' news for free, namely the main titles. This in itself makes it one that I will download and read. I might even buy it once in a while...

I love reading the NYT anywhere and at any time on my iPhone. But the app freezes regularly, and restarting it three to four times only resuscitates it about half the time. I am left with no NYT for days at a time. I have also tried deleting and reloading the app on my phone, and always download their updates- to no avail, the app remains unreliable. Still, out of pure love for a free NYT without even having to get out of bed in the morning, it gets 3 stars from me.
