- the error message is constantly wrong. You will not be able to know why you cannot proceed with the order .
This App once gave an error message that there are some issue with the “coupons “, and what actually was happening was that specific store do not have chocolate milkshake - I can proceed with ordering after I changed the drinks . The error code was however, completely irrelevant and misleading. If there is an issue with lack of inventory, please point it out properly and thus the customer will be able to fix and change it effectively.
- I have another experience that I was somehow able to select a store that was CLOSED - when finalising the order - it did not give an error message telling the store was closed , but instead saying it was a “technical issue “ and ask to go order at the store directly.
I went to the CLOSED store following the recommendation of the error message, just to find out it was closed.
This app is poorly developed with randomly assigned error message, hindering customer from ordering. I would appreciate some follow up especially on fixing those crazy error messages.

Attempted to place an delivery order via the app using American Express credit card. Transaction was made but the order was canceled inexplicably. What is the point of having the delivery function if it’s not available? Perhaps it’s better to design the app in such a way that in notifies the customer that the branch nearby doesn’t except delivery orders instead of charging the customer’s
Credit card and then notifying them their order has been canceled. This is terrible interface design.

Password and Stores Closed issue

Firstly, when you try to reset the password, it doesn’t accept the password you type and keeps saying try another password.
Another problem is, for my specific account, it keeps showing that the stores are closed. Even though it shows open on the other people’s phones around me, it keeps saying on my phone that the store is currently closed.
The App is very handy and you can place the order on your phone and don’t have to wait in long lines in rush hours.
Looking forward to a fix to this problem.

If you order by using the app, you can often get extra discounts and some free stuff but it takes a long time just to order via the app. And one time, I kept trying to make an order for 2 hours because every time there would be a message saying something in my cart is out of stock. The problem is that it would not tell me exactly what is out of stock so I removed something random from my cart every time before making the order again. Eventually, I gave up trying to use the app and just went to a counter at a branch to make the order instead. After the order, I tried using the app again to see if it would work. It worked. I tried using it for 2 hours and there would be a pop-up error message every time. Then afterwards, I tried doing it again and it worked only after I had paid for an order, preventing me from saving any extra money.

McDonald delivery always late , way past 1hour and the food gets cold and when I call to ask about the delivery…. They just say there’s no driver available and that I have to wait until there is someone available, the staff said maybe up to 2HOURS!
For a fast food chain that offers 24hour delivery service, MCDONALD is just a joke! Terrible service experience, guess I won’t be using their services again!
Also their iOS app doesn’t work, just crashes when trying to open it.

2 weeks in a row when I used AlipayHK to make payment, the payment went through and I received sms from my bank to notify me of payment, the McDonald’s app then showed “User cancelled order”. So the order didn’t go through and I would need to select pay by cash and resubmit order again. Then I had to call the support telephone to try to resolve the issue. The support couldn’t do anything and said my AlipayHK will likely to return payment in 5-7 days. Unbelievable that you can take my money right away yet it takes you 5-7 days to process the return! Waste of my time!

Believe it or not, I receive a daily(!) notification for the offers McD have. Most other apps allow you to simply disable them. This one doesn't.
It's bloody annoying...seems the only way is to delete the app after all.

I have placed an order today for lunch and was shown unsuccessful for a warning box, I tried once again but the same case happened. Then, I have received SMS from bank showing the two transactions of the unsuccessful order and verified with the bank on such transactions, with confirmed that charged. Refund process could only be initiated by the restaurant according to the bank.
In this case, the restaurant could not trace the order and the app does not show the unsuccessful orders placed, which I have no record to process for refund. I share this case to users to alert the repeated charge of orders, in case the App showed the unsuccessful transactions.

TL;DR, avoid this app if you still want your privacy.
Users basically can’t use most of the functions it claims it provides until you turn on location services.
What’s more disturbing is the fact that it prompts me to enable notification after I explicitly said NO in one of their forms.
Hey McDonald’s, I still remember how you said your CCTV footages miraculously disappeared when asked to hand them over after a bunch of Popo allegedly beat the crap out of Hong Kong citizens in a McDonald’s during one of the protests in July 2019. Despite dozens of people witnessing and videotaping a guy getting dragged away by the Popo, your CCTV just happens to be out of service and couldn’t provide any evidence at all. What a coincidence, huh?
I was installing this app for my parents, who wanted to use your coupons. I’ll just go and tell them the app is outright broken instead.

First time order at 10pm and error for 15mins, so I used the phone to order instead. Nothing more than a glorified menu.
When the order finally came at 11:10pm, they left out a McSpicy Chicken Fillet. This is the second time they leftout something from an order.m and have to delivery again. Money down the drain and wasted gas so food quality would go even lower... 🤦‍♂️. Will I get it before 12mn?

I rarely write any reviews, and if I do it’s either I am extremely impressed or I am extremely disappointed, and in this case unfortunately it’s the latter.
Why would you force your customers to check in at the restaurant before they can check out their mobile order? Instead of being able to order upfront and just grab and go upon arrival, I need to still stand in the restaurant and wait, what is the point of using this app then?
I really expect more from a restaurant of your scale McDonald’s and you have really disappointed a loyal customer.

If you order from Foodoanda, Deliveroo, or other delivery services you get your food much, MUCH faster. You'll pay a little more, of course, but who wants to wait 1 1/2 - 2 hours for a burger using the McDonald's app? It seems the actual McDonald's shops don't care even a little bit about this app. Every time I order from McDonald's, and put "PLAIN BURGER" in the comments, it is ignored. Maybe you are willing to wait two hours for your food, but just know that your order will probably be wrong as well. And this isn't one experience for me, it's 5 consecutive times.

It often crashed after payment by Alipay

The program will change to the Alipay app if you select payment method by Alipay. However, when the payment is done, the program when shifted back to McDonald’s app, it will crashed. I could not known my queue no#. I usually need to open email to see the receipt. Recent update has remove the email, I need to restart the app and check last order to known my no#. The only benefit of using this app is there is some coupon inside the app.

AlipayHK not working when order delivery

It is odd to ask customers to check the order status page after the AlipayHK payment is done without telling customer if the order is successful in upfront. More importantly, the AlipayHK payment is not working at all when order delivery. I need to keep checking the mailbox and refreshing the app to confirm the order was NOT successful. Though there is refund afterwards, it took an hour to do so.

Okay. The reason to use this app is to avoid long queue and are in rush. So basically this app is totally opposite of what this app suppose to do. I used the app to preorder my food and I can pay with Alipay so basically I don’t need to queue again I just need to be there and get my food. It sounds great , but the reality is after I pay with Alipay this app ask me to reload again and said I didn’t pay successfully but on the other side Alipay did deduct my money. So the only way to fix is to wait and talk with the cashier. Alright finally chat with the cashier she saw my order somehow and she treat me like I beg for the food or I didn’t pay for the food .. seriously it took longer time then I thought and it’s a lot more trouble. Sorry to say... Great idea but need to update the system better

Tried to use the app for mcdonald delivery for two nights, but never work. The app only pops up with screen of error, pls try again, but never work. Even tried to re-download again the app. Not only my app not working, my friend’s not worked either. If it not gonna working, pls take out the functions. So we called the hotline, it said it was busy and ask you to try the website, yet the website refers to the app. Sigh... Extremely bad experience.

The app is functional but errors occur every now and then. The most recent error I got took 90+ dollars from my credit card and gave an transaction error. It says it will refund the money back to me shortly but no refunds were given. Unless you use credit card, the app is great.

Why aren’t you supporting Apple Pay? It’s a shame that you’re supporting superfluous payment methods like Alipay and WechatPay in the store whereas the most intuitive and streamlined payment method is ignored in your app.
I hope it’s just a beta thing. I’m giving you five stars if you support Apple Pay before you’re out of beta. One more star deducted if you roll out your formal version as-is.

P.S. at the time I wrote this the app just supported AliPay. It’s an understandable play for McDonald’s since it’s now a Chinese-owned venture, OTOH it spotlights how deplorable you’re to omit Apple Pay.

(1) totally not user friendly (similar to the ordering machine at the shop it took a long time to get use to it.) The workflow is not logical and it always took a few try before you can get into what you wanted
(2) data privacy. The checkbox for opt out was hide by the screen chuck and there is no way for you to opt out once you completed the registration. Believe the marketers try to trick you when you are in a rush while the screen is partially hided

Cannot access to McDelivery service

Whenever I tried to click McDelivery on the home page, the app would immediately stop functioning and automatically close. Already using the updated version and it has been happening at least for few days as I opened it every morning recently but with no luck to access the service. Totally disappointed. Gonna stop trying anymore.

The apps is function.
However, some features does not consider user’s behavior, not friendly at all.
1. Restaurant location change. The color and icon of find “another restaurant” is in grey color, it make user confused it is a cancel button.
2. Some time after changed restaurant location, the continue button is dim, the select button has no response. Finally, need to restart apps to make it work.
3. No in-apps language change.
4. In the app, after selecting meal and there are two more option for choosing extra food. The option by default is “not select”. For saving time of making order, it should be “No”.

Its funny to know that i need to check in upon arrival before the food starts to prepare. I’d prefer if I can order and pay for the food in advance and collect once I arrive The store. What’s the point of getting an app while the function is simply the same when I buy there directly? Besides, I’ve also tried the delivery function the other day, it’s sadly to keep showing error message when I clicked everything and tried to place an order, seems the delivery function is not ready yet maybe? Well, I’ve deleted the app already.

Payment accepted while order failed to be processed

I made an order using the app and paid by my saved credit card. However, an error message popped up stating that my order failed to be processed while I instantly received a SMS from my bank confirming that McDonald has already collected the payment from my credit card. The staff reiterated that they did not receive my order and referred me to the technical hotline which was outside the office hour. How do you believe this could happen?!!!

The app is totally functional considering if you need to avoid long queue on both order counter and kiosk. I cannot believe people giving one star on an app just because it doesn't fulfils a single request, which might violate the business model but not the app itself. For me, I could rely on the app to pre-order food so the moment I go into a store and check-in, my food would start to be prepared. And I don't even need to stand in front of a kiosk. Some people may say it only saves 1min. Have you ever encountered the busy hours at lunch time? The queues are like 15ppl per line and 3-4 per kiosk. Not to mention some elderlies take ages to order one hamburger with a cup of water. Moreover, I am a guy who controls body weight, the app provided enough information for me to know the cals in each food. It would be even better if the information include details, e.g. the cals in the sauce ( because I usually order chicken sub without sauce ). The promotion and stuffs are also bonus for me. 4 stars because I still encounter minor navigation bugs such as missing head bar after selecting restaurant on the map. So yea, this app is useful when you need it, but not a must if you have the choice to order faster.

Very in-user friendly
1. Need to check-in at restaurant for complete the ordering - cannot preorder before u arrived the restaurant and scan the barcode & WAIT... it only saves 1.5 mins of queuing, but I still have to wait at the restaurant. I can’t see the point of using app order. Perhaps taking other pre-order apps as reference is good, eg Starbucks
2. Suggest to bundle the “food + drink” combo order of McCafé instead the preset sequence. Currently can only be drink, then food, irreversible!
3. Cannot use app to collect coffee stamp at McCafé after you paid at restaurant. You have to tell the staff before ordering, what a silly point

Crashed after updating to iOS 12

Save time especially when there is a long queue in university. Normally has to wait for more than 1 hour to use the on-screen ordering and wait for 20 minutes for the kiosk, but by using this app there is no need to queue. Useful to deal with the long queue inside the shop. It only saves the queuing time “but not the food preparing time” that other users are not satisfied with.

This app makes me frustrating, coz I was able to order once only. Since that, I failed to order for at least 4 weeks. Whenever I clicked “submit order”, the system would say, “Sorry, an error has occurred. Pls try again.” I kept on calling their Customer Service Hotline and their IT Hotline, still the problem is not fixed. Even more frustrating was, Customer Service called me saying the bug had been fixed, when I tried, it was not. I called IT, IT said there was a bug, and the bug was not yet fixed.”

In old McDelivery app, I can choose the language. Now it is no longer available (I guess it follows the OS’ system language but I believe I am not the only one who want to see English in system, but Chinese in some apps). Address I inputted in old McDelivery couldn’t be recognised and when I input again it does not provide enough fields for full address (eg I couldn’t enter the Block number)

Wait.. can’t even track the delivery??

Alright so trying out this app:
First, you place your order and then you wait...and wait..and wait for your delivery which comes at never.
Second, when you try to cancel the order because it’s taking too long, there’s no option to cancel!
Third, when you call their hotline to try to find where exactly did your order go, the customer service can’t find your delivery guy and have to call the restaurant which never responds.
Finally two hours later from a McDonald’s that’s three blocks away, the meals are delivered cold and very delayed.
In conclusion this app is useless and the delivery service terrible. Might as well just go to a kiosk yourself and buy your meals there.

Misleading description and use

This app is useful to look at meals, use coupons and other deals but this requires more taping such as selecting/changing restaurants and requires to scan barcode before confirm payment.
After scanning the barcode, anyone can pay by octopus by simply telling the cashier (if any)

The app design has no problem and the whole order process was smooth. The thing is, while some might expect they can get the food straightaway after ordering remotely, they reality is that the food is made only after checking in at the shop. In other words, it won’t save you much time, perhaps 1.5 minutes from ordering at the kiosk.
What’s the point giving the card details when customers can’t be trusted even if they have paid? There are a lot of similar apps on the market, but, as I hate to say, McDonalds has to learn from Starbucks mobile order, which really gives customers a robust and efficient experience.

Worst Catering App Ever Used

This is probably the worst catering app I’ve used so far. You can’t change the language in App so if you chose Chinese/English, then you’re stuck with that language forever. If you logout and wanting to log back in, you won’t be able to do so as it’ll keep on prompting an error message saying the system is down. When you want to reset your password, you’ll get a temporary password via email that doesn’t work. Piece of garbage, I’ve deleted it already.

The app aims only to reduce McDonald’s cost but not to customers’ benefits.
It cost customers more time & effort to input an order, and more ridiculously wait longer than ordering from cashier.
Coupons can hardly be used: 1) many staff doesn’t know how to input the order; 2) some requires customers’ input in app which may cost 3-5 minutes, for using a $2-3 coupon. That’s why I gave up!
1 more critical issue: why can’t it support Apple Pay?

This app is totally not user-friendly. I have to relocate the restaurant many times even i m sitting inside. Also what i want the most is to order food rather than seeing your advertisement on the first page. And the payment method is really silly that i have to type the credit card number in public place. Why don't you let the user use the apple pay? Do you think retyping the credit card number is more secured? I will never use this app again as it wasted my valuable time.

It’s stupid not to include Apple Pay for payment options.
If Pay brings cash / check in at store, still have to queue for payment since everyone is already so busy, however didn’t think of installing an self payment machine to avoid the wait. So once I had paid i am queuing with the other people? The only time i saved is the self ordering time (this is somehow ok since some people are like spending so much time on the screen)
However if I really want to avoid the queue it’s paying in advance I guess but Apple Pay is missing hah!

No matter ho many times you tried and whatever payment method you used. It will tell you the payment is processed and once you check in it pops up the error message.
Also this app is not any different from ordering at the counter or from on of those machines in the mcdonalds. All it does is let you have your own ordeiring machine which is slower, more inconvenient, less choices and most importantly, never works!
Would rate negative star if I could cause its worse than whatever we could use now.

I tried to order a flat white of McCafe via mobile apps this morning and found that the “customise order page” is so confusing.
I wanna change the fresh milk to skim milk. When I jump into the “customise order page”, all the options are selected as 1 in default. Therefore, I change all the options to “none”, except the option “Change fresh milk to skim milk”. After the order is placed, I get a flat white which is totally opposite to my options.
Please fix the page and make it more reasonable.

Mobile payment doesn't work. Ask me to input my credit card detail again once I checked in. Took too long to fix over the counter. End up just paying cash. Absolute terrible with the check in system. It's no different from ordering at store. Waste of time. Used the app twice and screw up twice. Star bucks app system is so much better. Order, pay and pick up then you are down. None of this check in BS.

I expected the app could help me saving the time that I need to wait at store. I found that my order would be processed only when I scanned the barcode at restaurant. However, I placed the order on the way to restaurant and I still have to wait for 10 mins for the food which I expected I could pick up my food in 1-2mins when I arrived. That’s not much difference for me to place order between using the ordering machine myself and the app. Disappointing. Sigh!

The order workflow is brainless and the COO shall resign due to such rubbish arrangement. The shop need to wait 20-30mins for food and this app cannot reduce the waiting time even I paid. Just because someone afraid complains on the food temperature? You can add the time to the app and tell users how to use. Buyers shall have right to adjust to time to collect and don’t need to wait in the shop. And stop paid to buy 5 stars comment here. Stupid

this is indeed a right direction of the digital world. it is convenient to check the menu, the special offers, the nutrition values.
However, many of us might expect the app to place the order right away once we paid. I personally believed many of us downloaded the apps for this particular reason: to order the food in advance, so the food is ready to collect when we get there, and we can move on with our busy life.
so it might be pretty disappointing that we found out the app failed in achieving such. this, perhaps, is the reason of the low rating of the app.
i understand that the company might worried about false/mistake orders where the customer would not pay when the restaurant have already prepared the food. It is respected. Yet, i dont see this point still standing when some of us have already have paid by credit card. Also, please kindly consider adding apple pay for more secure payments.

The idea is good but the information is plain wrong. Opening hours for a 24-hour is written as 08:00-23:59 and 08:00-06:00 depending on the page, error message is meaningless saying an order has not met the minimum amount, so what is the minimum amount? Finally I cannot switch language in app... wonder why they didn’t think of that. Frustrating to use.
