BBC is the best
As a former Swiss TV journalist I appreciate to check daily the BBC application on my smartphone. The reports are well focused and unbiased with a good coverage of the world news. It's extremely useful to have various articles on the same issue but with various angles.

Nice layout, easy to use, reliable, and stable, but in some cases only shows the first two or three paragraphs of an article, which means you have to go to their website to read the rest.

Video bugs
In my opinion the app is great, but there is one thing that bothers me. Whenever I want to play a video it plays for about 2 seconds and then jumps right back to the beginning, thats quite annoying. The same problem appears on my iphone. Thanks for fixing it.

OMG HOW NOT TO IMPLEMENT ADS
Have you ever screamed at an app because it doesn't react ? Well imagine this app and the advertisements it forces you to endure for 15 seconds more than your patience last for. Add to that the video being laggy and it’s the definition of Frustration. I can imagine somebody has deliberately coded this in to test the human annoyance threshold. Before I deleted the app I wanted to place a review. Please change this soon so that I can reinstall the app. Until then it is gone. Take note we Brits are an impatient people!

I used to think the BBC was the only "unbiased" broadcaster. But alas - I have been deceived for a long time. This app is well thought out, but crashes a lot. The news content is good, widespread but BIASED ! I keep looking at it occasionally "in hope" that it can reclaim it's crown. But it sickens me, this leftist dirty taint that crowds in my mouth. So disappointed with it. Probably in another week or so I will delete it, along with the Huffington Post.

Fix the Entertainment News section bug FFS!
I've already reported this, with no action, so I'll leave in a review. All instances of this app on all my devices have an issue in the entertainment news section of 4 news stories about the Oscars (from February) that never go away. 3 instances, 3 different devices, I conclude it's a bug. Please fix.

Short wave during the last century

Problem loading this content ...
Latest version seems to have a serious problem: Since 2 days getting "there was a problem loading this content" errors and all articles still visible are at least 2 days old. Restarting iPad and reinstalling BBC News app did not help. Other apps and browser (Safari) work just fine. Pleas fix. Thanks.

Just as for some, the day hasn't started until they've had their fix of caffeine or nicotine, I click my BBC App first thing, to find out what world I've woken up to.

Always looking ahead, never losing focus on its values
When the world stops rotating and starts spinning like a top; when news is no longer reported, but skewed, faked and spin; when events and the minds that spawn them defy attachment to anything resembling reason - the BBC is the world's safe haven for journalism whose prime directive is to inform, explain and offer for reflection.
The Beeb has kept itself upstream of all things digital for 20 years now, always reinventing itself before its current iteration wears its welcome thin.
And they do it on an ever tighter budget under ever greater and ever more critical scrutiny from politicians of every stripe.
Nearly everything has changed in the way they are forced to make and source their programming. They have to deploy abridging that I'm sure displeases them as much as it does me; they can be repetitive and are currently overdoing it for my taste in me-too'ing lesser news organizations by promoting their reporters' personalities as much as their professionalism.
But so long as the end result is the best news you can get -for free! - with a warranty of honesty, and so long as they continue to engage political parties across the entire spectrum forced to blame their incompetence and incoherence on bias - well, then not everything in the works is beyond repair.
